trial and error ... i have carburetor drill bits that go from the size of a hair up to just smaller then a pencil lead .. i have a few spare carbs and jets ... i know its now the best way to do it , but i dont have the money to buy the whole aircleaner assembly and housing..... it does run , its just this surging issue that im trying to figure out .. iv been driving it like this for a couple years now .. in the yard it doesnt do it .. it just does it when i get it out on the road and can really open it up

You might start with an .042 drill bit. I gutted the stock air box on mine, and thats where mine ended up with a tan plug. With an open filter, pretty sure it will need to be larger than that, but might get you in the park!!
