I found out the hard way, adjusted my lash and later saw the oil leaking. But by then the fins were full of oil and dirt. Took it all apart and cleaned it all, sealed that cover on like nobody's business after that lol. Some areas here are very dusty at times and it will fill the fins quickly.

Default New to me g9 oil leak

My apologies for the noobie question but the valve cover you speak of that needs a gasket is the silver one with Yamaha right by the plug?

Also what is the rocker cover you guys speak of?

Last, what are the appx sizes and lengths of hoses if I were to replace them all?

Yes, "the aluminum cover on top of the motor, that says Yamaha"!! There should be a gasket under that cover!

I changed hoses on a g8, and I got by with using 3 feet of each, 5/16 inch fuel injection hose, for vent/vacuum hose, and 3 feet of 1/4 inch fuel injection hose for fuel line. You might get a foot more of each if your not close to an auto parts store!!

I think you may be right with the White Hose, I tried taking mine for a spin yesterday and it ran for about 15' then wouldn't go. The air box had roughly 2" of gas in it coming from that line. Is that a result of the White House not looping up high enough?

If it's gas, you need to check the oil level, if it's way high, more than likely, the cause is from a leaking "carb float valve" not sealing, and allowing gas to run past the rings and drip into the crank case!!

And, yes, I would like to see your "white hose" go up a couple inches higher, but, that is probably not the cause of "gas" in the filter box!! Unless, there is a lot of blow-by with a crank case full of gas, (from the bad carb float valve!!

It was a gas/oil mix inside the air box and on the filter. I had checked the oil just a few months back and it was spot on. If the crank case is full of gas is it something that needs to be drained or will it burn off?

I plan to replace every hose on the cart after your suggestion!!

What are the opinions on eBay carbs? Yay, or nay? Looks as if it will be cheaper to replace the whole carb than rebuild.

Also noticed the black spacer between the barb and the block is split on my cart, I assume that is a simple fix by removing and bolting in the new one?

Keep your carb at all costs!! All the pros say so! Repair/rebuild it, not hard to do!!

I would dump the oil and put in ONE quart only, then mark the dip stick, that is your full mark from now on, unless you lift it.

Replace the plastic manfold spacer, and also the gaskets (2). New gaskets are much softer, and you don't have to tighten the screws and bolts as tight to get a seal!! While your at it, get a new exhaust gasket as well for same reason!!

And be careful to not over tighten the two 10 mm nuts on the intake/carb gasket. The plastic spacer is EASILY broken.
