Default Backfire?

Well can some one walk me through adjusting what needs to be adjusted so the spark stays on as soon as humanly possible when starting?

I am finding that the kids let off the gas peddle and she back fires. I try to explain to them that the spark stops when you let totally off the peddle.

Question is where are the adjustments so I can fine tune them for driving style of my kids?

Would it be better to wire the spark on all the time and wire a push button to start her up?

Cheers Don.

First I would check that the carb butter fly is closing all the way.

are you sure its a spark issue? i just fixed a backfire issue on my 87, the throttle cable wasn't pulling back as far as it should so the valve wouldn't close all the way. new carbs could still need quite a few adjustments.

What is the proper adjustment for the carb cable? When should the butterfly start to open?

Great read. Is this spring on the cable needed? There was not one on there and there is not one on there now. I guess if your peddle has more throw then your butterfly.

Cheers Don.
