Default Are these brushes worn out ???

I will be replacing but just wanted to know for future reference. I couldnt tell where the indicator marks should be. Just wanted to know if they are bad to the point the starter will barely turn or if im on a wild goose chase

Got good life left in um .. from what I see. Make sure the armature is clean and not clogged between the groves where the brushes run... that could be where your losing power to crank.

Sometimes a good cleaning will do wonders. I take a popcicle stick and square one end with a utility knife then thin it down until it will go between the comutator segments, in the slots and clean the build up out. If they are ruff take a nonmetalic fine grit sand paper, I use a 600 grit at least and go arround the comutator until it shines up and slicks out. If you do that clean the slots last and blow everything out with air to remove all the crud. Check the bearings and make sure they are free. This usually works wonders unless something else is going on..............
