The splines on the axle are likely just filled with crap from the hub. You should be able to clean that out. A new hub is about $40.

being in south africa i reckon more a case of where do I get parts
would a good engineer be able to possibly weld up the spline and cut into the hub ? bush job I know but parts here are not easily available

once again you spot on just scraped all the gunk out ,spline still perfect
my mate works at the local golf course he should have a hub lying around for me

If you can't get the parts, it'd probably be easier to just cut in 2 keyways and install keys. Won't any of the parts places deliver to SA? I've sent parts to SA for machinery. I think we use DHL or UPS.

managed to find a really good used hub from my mate at the local golf course
reasonable price all put back together and she is running like a dream again
