I also think battery prob with overload of sprayer taking juice out higher than chargability if that's a word. Clip was probably a fluke and should not have a thing to do with wireing with out another poss. connection at other end that also was grounded to the same circuit.
Check battery and also check condition of battery cells if you can. May also have weak gen. Check for voltage with cart jacked up rear end and run out with good speed and see if you are getting higher than 12 volts from gen.

Worst case scenario: the high demand of the sprayer overworked and fried the brushes of your generator. Your generator also serves as a starter, so a bad generator IS a bad starter as well.

The clicking of the solenoid might POSSIBLY mean that the solenoid is what fried itself, but I doubt it. By running that sprayer, you effectively doubled the demand on that 20-year-old generator, and it was just too much.

Thanks I will check the battery when I get home, as I had mention I put a jump box on it and that did not help that's why I ruled it out but I will double check. I noticed playing with it this morning a little before work the positive cable sparked a little at the battery and the solenoid stopped clicking. I may pick up a solenoid just to be sure.

If the cable sparked, it is loose or corroded.

1989- I agree with you the cable is loose but even tight I had nothing. However after some work tonight I have discovered it is the generator, its locked up tight. Just pulled it off and looking for my best option new or rebuild. Thanks all.

You may be looking at new as probably the wire winding has fried along with bad bearings leaving a bit of slop. My guess but take it apart and see what you have to deal with.
