Default Sometimes pedal down and nothing

I have 2002 Gas Yamaha that runs really good. However, lately, when I press down on the gas pedal sometimes nothing happens. I release the pedal and then press it down again and I take off just fine. Can anyone tell me what is going bad on my cart and what I need to do to fix it?
Thanks

Do a load test on your battery

Common issues are Bad Brushes in the starter/gen.($20 or so at a rebuild shop for the 4 of them),Bad starter-solenoid(don't use a car start solenoid,it won't last a week, they are intermittent-duty,carts use a continuous-duty,like a snow-plow or lift-gate solenoid, which is what I use).Loose Starter-belt,Bad start-switch on pedal under floor,Bad cables,Weak-Battery,and Bad connections next. When you hit the pedal, does the starter try to go for a quick burst, then kinda groan?Thats common with bad brushes. You can test the battery at a parts-store.With the cart in "Neutral",You can check voltage at rest, and while cranking. If it drops way off and battery is good, look at cables and starter next.Hope this helps.

Thank you all for the replies. Sorry I haven't responded, I caught the flu and haven't had a chance to check any of these fixes. I will repost after I get my life back! Thanks again

Don't forget to check the micro switch under the accelerator also. If the problem happens again hold the pedal down and stomp the floor with your other foot. If the engine starts you have an answer to your problem.

Try jump wiring the pedal switch and see if this solves the problem.

i did want to mention,, there is a plastic plug, its right before the switch, about a foot away, has a little twist tie to frame. years ago mine was bad, i just cut it out and used wire nuts,, i think you get a much better connection , the contacts in that plug really get bad, especially if they are getting wet..:
