Problem with a gas G8

I have a strange rattling noise comming from the centrifugal clutch. Its almost like there are metal nuts rattling around inside.At first I thought it was a piece of mtal dragging along the ground but it is definitely coming from the clutch. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Only one way to find out, remove the cover on the clutch and take a closer look.

My money is that your going to need to rebuild your primary clutch.

There's a good chance you have a broken weight on the clutch. Mine was rattling like crazy and this is what I found.

Are these clutchs repairable or just buy a new one?

And another question.
If you don't do anything for a while what happens? Does it just jam up and quite working one day or get progressivly worse i.e. no drive. Just wondering if I can let it go for a week or two for when I have some time. I use my golf cart for getting around my property as I have gimpy knees and hips so mobility is limited without it.

The clutches are completely rebuildable. All of the parts are replaceable. I'm pretty sure that you can buy rebuild kits too.

I'm not sure that it would ever "jam" up. I suppose that if all of the weights were broken or one weight got jammed the clutch would never shift out and you just go really slow no matter how high the rpm. You would be able to limp it home. Look at the clutch cover to see if there are any dents in it. That would be a good sign that you have a broken weight. The only other concern would be the unbalanced effect of the clutch causing wear on the crankshaft and bearings. If it's driving ok right now then I would suspect that it would not change in a week or two but only time will tell...it's a crap shoot.

Well, I found my problems. A plastic spoon had falled down in between the alternator belt pulley and the block and was rubbing. Odd how a small item like that can make such a racket. Anyway, cheap fix. LOL.Thanks fpr the replies.

Wow. I wish all problems could be solved with a simple plastic spoon or lack of. Glad it was a simple fix for you.

I've seen so many different things fallen or jammed up in there making noise, its tough to suprise me anymore. I cant nearly count the number of jammed sticks i've pulled out. And these are primarily golf used. Bad golfers
