Electric Fuel Pump Yamaha G2
Hi. I have fuel issues the likely cause is crank case seals. The logistics of repairing are complex so we thought about retro-fitting an electric fuel pump wired to the accelerator micro-switch. Has anyone done this?

Awesome. How did you wire it in?

Also, I think my tube sizes are different. Apparently I have 3/8". Does that make sense to you? Really appreciate your help.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump Yamaha G2
And one final question! Have you wired it in such a way that if you're going downhill with no gas on the pump stays operating? We do quite a bit of downhill work and I just thought that if we wire it to the accelerator microswitch when I ease off the gas to go downhill and the pump stops if I am going downhill for long enough it'll eventually run out of gas and the engine will stop. Does this make sense?

Re: Electric Fuel Pump Yamaha G2
Two things, by not repairing seals some time down the road the engine will not run or self destruct because it will go lean.
also when you lift your foot the engine stops anyway. Make that three things, be sure you use a low pressure fuel pump or you will flood the engine. |

Thanks for that. Are you sure the engine stops downhill? Because I still have engine braking downhill - and when the engine stops it freewheels. I wonder if there's something clever that detects the need for engine braking and keeps it idling.

The down hill breaking is just the clutches are engaged and using compression of the motor to slow it down its not actually firing similar to a jake break on a semi

Re: Electric Fuel Pump Yamaha G2
I wired the pump to run with the system in the on position. Its a low pressure pump 3-5 psi with 1/4" lines. For me I run my cart as a utility vehicle -- it idles and doesn't shut off. I have no over flow issues and the pump works flawlessly. I use a line reducer -- 3/8 to 1/4 inch on the draw or suction side of the pump. What I used as a reducer -- a multi fit fuel filter.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump Yamaha G2
Thanks for that. If we wanted it to shut off per normal operation do reckon it would make sense to wire it to the accelerator microswitch?
