No power at key after dumb (STUPID!) mistake
Ok ... So up front I'm a licensed electrician and I know better ... I was starting to check voltages and mistatakenly I had left my multimeter leads plugged in for amperage readings when I made the first voltage reading. That reading was going to be from the key switch line side(+)(green wire) to the battery last negative. As the multimeter was setup and connected that essentially made a direct short with a big spark and more than a few choice words. Now I have no voltage to the key switch. The meter is still good with certainty, my pride Did not come out as well. The batteries will charge but that is it, no buzzer , no click. I have not pulled the batteries to find the other end of the green wire but it appears it goes into the computer box area ..... after and hour plus of searching. Does anyone have any idea what I burned by doing this? I only know of two fuses, one on the factory 12v + input lead and the other on my 48/12 converter lead. Are there more? I hope so! HELP please.

It would help if you would state the first half of the serial number.

I believe you have a IQ system and could have smoked a sonic weld. But that system is way above my pay-grade. The guys that can give you solid information won't be back on until morning. Hang in there.

Check your fuse that is in the control box cover. It's easy to access and you can easily see if the fuse is busted. That would be my first place to look.

Yes. That's where the fuse is. It's located in a black plastic blade fuse holder near the solenoid. Let us know what you find.

Re: No power at key after dumb (STUPID!) mistake
Is it safe to assume it is inside the control box? If so on 6/8v cart can you safely open the cover without pulling the center batteries? I'll work on this this evening.
Semi related maybe, I have a fuse on a blue wire connected to the 2nd battery positive. It is not blown but I read it is the factory 12v output (now 16v I guess on a converted cart). What all does this power and can I simply rewire this to my 48/12 converter? My purpose would be a true a 12v and a equal battery string discharge. |

Re: No power at key after dumb (STUPID!) mistake
What is your serial number again (the one you posted is incorrect)?
The PQ06 precedent would have the control box between the batteries and the PQ09 model would be behind the batteries. This is how the fuse holder looks on the "behind the batteries" location (screw driver is pointing to it). http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...e_location.jpgYes, You should be using your 48v->12v DC converter instead of the first two batteries. |

And by the way, yes you are going to have to remove the two center batteries.
