Re: Club Car - Go Gas or Sparky
The Robin motors we're good motors too you really can't
Go wrong with the top three brands of carts most of it is personal preference on witch is better so that being said if you're looking for your first one your best bet is look at all brands and pick one with a good price tag and hasn't been beat to death |

Re: Club Car - Go Gas or Sparky
ok, talking Yearly Maintenance between Gas vs Electric
Figure a 5 year span and cost on average per year breakdown Electric - Avg $150 Year (750/5) ...1 Set of Batteries $750 (5 year life) ...Water 5 minutes a month Gas - Avg $80 Year (50+(50+100)/5) ...Oil Change, Oil, Filter, Fuel Filters, Air Filter, Spark Plug $50 year 30 minutes ...Belts $50 (1x in 5 years) ...Battery $100 (5 year life) ...Clutch x2, Generator Brushes, Fuel Pump, Check & Set Valves (how often to replace these items ?) Both ...Air, Tires, Grease/ Lube, Rear End, Cleaning, Brakes, etc... |

Re: Club Car - Go Gas or Sparky
I've been running my 1987 cart for around 5 years now and have not had to touch any of these things. I'd say that there's really no way to accurately predict a monthly cost for failure of any of them...my monthly cost to maintain these items so far has been $0.

Re: Club Car - Go Gas or Sparky
tomorrow friday... Dec 29
was looking at an alternative that just popped up. the guy would not take a deposit or payment on it, said he would call me dec 29 when he was off again. But also mentioned another guy or so was looking at it, so hope he does not play the bidding war game. i do not play that game. I will just walk away, or maybe drive away in the electric |

Re: Club Car - Go Gas or Sparky
You might also consider in the cost of electricity to charge a sparky...
it may seem like a dime on the dollar in the short run, but tends to add up in the long run! Even when gasoline was at $4 a gallon, it was still cheaper to run a gasser! |

Re: Club Car - Go Gas or Sparky
Sparky's are great, if you're confined to a certain area, such as a neighborhood Golf Course then the Sparky's are great.
But as for me I've been known to put 70 or 80 miles on a cart in one day, with gas to spare. How far or how long you think a Sparky would go, especially if you were trying to run it 3/4 throttle or faster ,how long would that Sparky last? With that said, the obvious choice should be a gasser, nobody should be limited where they they can go or can't go.... My first cart was a Sparky, and after changing the batteries for a second time, I went looking for a gasser, I fell in love it, and it was like this addiction took over, new lift kit, wheels and tires, custom rear seat, led lights, the addiction really gets in your blood, some people on this forum have been known to change to a even a bigger motor, than what they had, I'm not going to point any fingers, or mention any names I'm just going to look in the other direction....... |
