The reason I asked for the photo of the cart is to help with some decisions you will have to make. Anything can be fixed, sometimes not worth it.

For starters, you have solid state cart. That box in the middle is your controller. The controller, the motor, and the batteries (which you will need) are the most expensive parts of the cart.

You will need to start by testing the motor. I hope the previous owner was not considering changing to gas (bad idea) because the electric motor is bad.

The motor can be tested by using jumper wires and a 12 volt battery. Any of the ones you have, if good, will work. Any 12v battery will do. Jack the rear wheels OFF the ground when performing this test. You will find 4 studs protruding from the motor. They are marked, A1, A2, S1, and S2. I can do this from memory, but always check myself and I'm not at home. Search in here for "testing a series motor."

If the motor is good, proceed from there.

Ok Matt. Do that test. Report back and we'll go from there.

well it took a lot longer than i had expected, but motor runs great. however i cant make it run through gas pedal. i think i may be missing a diode or two. lol... what i really need is a diagram with exact part names and where each wire is connected. all the diagrams ive seen are just not simple enough

OK. That is good news. Look at the label on your cart and find out the model, year etc. Then look in the "stickies" here and find the proper diagram. I am not an EZ-GO guy so I will defer to others on specific troubleshooting. It would also be a great help for those helping you to have a couple photos of the whole cart.

Um, we can tell by the pictures it's a solid state version of a marathon. And it has a pretty basic electrical system. If the marathon wire diagrams are too complex for the OP, we have run into a bigger problem than identifying it.

Well, he did test the motor. I have no clue what diagram(s) he has.
