Best Yamaha Cart to big block
New to cart world. I am a Yamaha rhino fan but after riding in a G-16 recently, I am convined a cart would actually be more fun and would be a bit nicer for the family.
I want to build a yamaha cart. What model is the best/easiest to big block, lift and build for performance? G-9 versus G-16 or G-16 versus G-22? Thanks |

Re: Best Yamaha Cart to big block
I prefer the g-14 up for the body. The g14,16 and g-22 all have the same body design and have more accessories available. The front suspension is different on the g-22 than any of the previous models. G-9 was a good cart thou. As far as big block and lift all the carts are very similar in frame design.

Re: Best Yamaha Cart to big block
Welcome to BGW! I would prefer a G2/G9 to big block simply because of frame design. These models have a swing arm that is attached in two places to the frame verses one in the middle. Just a lot more stable when lifted.

Re: Best Yamaha Cart to big block
Thanks for the advice.
I have been patiently looking for a cart for a while. I have seen quite a few G-9's/G-2's/G-16's; however I am hoping to find a clean one that has engine issues so that I can transplant the big block from right away. I know G-16's model years were in the late ninities......what about the G-2 and G-9's? What year should I be lookign for? When shopping for used carts, many folks only know the year and not the model. Does the G-2/G-9 offer more tire clearance (when turing) than a G-16 when lifted with a 4-8 inch long travel lift? Thanks again, |

Re: Best Yamaha Cart to big block
another thought is a 96 up g16 as you can put in the posi traction from buggies unlimited in the rear.
The g2/g9 feels a bit more stable lifted than a g14 lifted. you have to get used to the single swing arm point on the g14 |
