If you have zero ohms on the red and brown wires coming out of the motor...according to the test procedure document I posted, you have a bad exciting coil. This a small coil behind the flywheel (not your main coil unit).

If you search for one on the Internet, search for both "exciter coil" and "exciting coil". The proper name is "exciting" but many guys call it an "exciter" coil. Here's one on eBay:

Yes that exciting coil should have a resistance between 355 to 385 ohms. If you have above that to infinity (too much ohms) or below that to zero (too little ohms) then you have a bad exciting coil according to Club Car.

They can be pretty hard to find. You could try Amazon or sometimes you can get lucky and find old Club Car parts on your local craigslist. You would be looking for gas Club Car DS carts from 1984-1991.

Geeze i forgot about that exciting coil. Non-obtainable like the ignition coil in my case. Our shop has tried everything to locate them since Nivel stopped offering them and Club Car cut the supply years ago. You can't even get a rebuild kit.

What about ignition coils? We only had one with a bad exciter and couldn't get it at the time. But ignition coils are becoming a problem--we're down to the last one NOS on the shelf from 2011.
