Re: 2006 G22 6 seat barn find
Without lifting the rear body which I just reattached before discovering all this (shouldn't have been in a hurry to get it back together!) let's see if these provide any insight into what's going on-
1- negative lead from VR to battery terminal 2- positive lead from solenoid to VR Close ups of the Voltage Reducer So the only lead going directly to a battery is the (-) lead in #1? I'm missing something very obvious here- just don't know what it is... |

Re: 2006 G22 6 seat barn find
Yep, its hooked to 3 batteries. Move it over one battery closer to the main positive terminal.

Re: 2006 G22 6 seat barn find
Well, the whole thing is biased from the main positive terminal, and your B- is "3 batteries away" from B+.

Re: 2006 G22 6 seat barn find
Ok, here's where I'm at and so far so good!
-new batteries -all rust including battery carrier wire brushed and painted -new charger/trickle charger -4 new wheels/tires- even new hubcaps (!) -lights and wiring squared away The cart looks almost brand new and runs OK, but still a couple of items to consider: -have the stock controller flashed for the speed upgrade. It's a Hitachi motor w Moric controller, so will be checking w dealer on how we need to go about doing this. Dealer's about 20 mi away, so this may be more of a logistics problem in getting the cart to them -will probably examine rear brake pads and replace as the cart stops ok but not confidence inspiring at this point. If the controller is flashed for more speed, definitely want to address this. - I notice a continuous bump/slight hop in left front wheel approaching top speed- maybe 10mph. Wheels are new and centered on hub when installed; lugs torqued to 58 ft/lbs. front shocks are original, but I don't see evidence of any fluid leaks but the rapid bumping/hopping almost feels like a car with a worn out strut or shock or what you'd feel on a car with a tire out of balance. Haven't checked toe-in yet, but will do that next. Any thoughts from the forum on why the bumping/hopping? |

Just because the tires are new, doesnt mean they're round. (Unfortunately). Jack it up & spin the wheel so you can see how bad it is

Re: 2006 G22 6 seat barn find
Jacked up wheels and spun them without using a dial indicator, they looked ok (eyeball calibration only).
Checked for excessive movement of hub/spindle- all seems snug. No bent arms. Took a couple of the old take off wheels and reinstalled on the front and still got the bumpy/hopping front. Eyeballed the front alignment and it looked off- wheels angled out unevenly on front. Did a basic alignment by running/clamping a straightedge 1x6 along side of cart extending beyond front wheel. Loosened jam nut and adjusted tie rod so that wheel (with steering wheel dead straight) was equal distance from 1x6 on front and back of wheel. Repeated to the other front wheel. Took cart out for a very brief run and the problem seems greatly improved, but still a bit noticeable. Will remove and reinstall all wheels to make sure they're centered correctly on hub, torque them on and see what happens. So far, very happy with this fix, but not yet perfect. |
