There will be no problem using automotive fuel filters.
If there is a micron count difference it won't be by much.
Have you checked your oil to see if the fuel is draining into the crankcase?
If it's not in the motor I'm not sure you have a fuel pump problem, The fuel could syphon back to the tank from the fuel line with a leaky valve in the pump but not drain the carb dry.
Need to find out where the fuel is going, How about pick up from a lawn mower shop a small inline fuel shutoff valve and install it anywhere between the tank and pump. Cut it off when you park it overnight or longer.
Tell us what happens after you do that.

I thought you had a 2 stroke. not that it matters since it sound like a fuel delivery issue. I agree with the micron count not mattering much but these are not high flow pumps and my opinion is 2 filters is overkill. If the pump diaphragm is leaking then you will either have gas in your oil (4 stroke) or the exhaust will smell strongly of unburnt fuel (2 stroke) either way the bowl should not be dry unless the float sticks closed and the engine burns the fuel remaining in the bowl.

yes it is a 2 stroke...and like you said the fuel in bowl gets burt up at start up and then does not refil...float sticks...but it is a new carb...and it may not do it for a few days and then it will start and then die...where and what is happening...if it is dirt where could it be coming from

you could always pull the carb and really have a look at the float and hinge and the seat. Make sure it isnt binding or maybe the nedle valve is defective. With the filters and all being new, I doubt its trash causing that. The float tang or vavle could have a defect though. I heard someone say once something about the valve swelling and causing some trouble but Im not sure how truthful that could be. It would seem with the somewhat loose tolerances on the float that it would take a god bit of grit to make it stick. They do stick however so check it.

I ride this cart offroad...dust and mud...i was thinking it may be getting trash pulled into carb from the intake hose...between filter and carb...what do you think..i had a hole rip in intake hose and patched it with electric tape...it seems like I'd does it less often ..after I patched that hose.

Glen, I agree with sccowboy, take the second gas filter out; I would also check to make sure your breather for the gas tank open. I think dirt can plug them up, create a negative pressure and suck gas back.
