Default Hyundai Electric HGB-1

I am the owner of a 1992 Hyundai. I know it is not a popular model, but I'm stuck with it. I am getting intermittent power. I think it is the solenoid. How can I tell? How can I make it faster? It doesn't seem like I'm getting everything out of it. I just put $650 worth of new batteries in it. I have the linkage from the accelerator pedal hooked up to the hole on the potentiometer switch that maximizes travel. Any suggestions?
