Winter is here - VERY hard to get reverse
Ever since the weather turned and the temps dropped here, I'm having a hard time getting my cart into gear. I can't get it into reverse at all. It seems to go into a nuetral area, then I have a hard time getting it back into forward and it wants to grind. If I work at it, it'll eventually go back into forward gear. Any quick thoughts on this? Cable? Trans Oil? IDK.
Been thinking about a plow for it, but with this...there's no chance. gpshemi |

You probably have a pinched shifter cable...

Perhaps, but why would it work fine up till the weather dropped then? Do I need to change the viscosity of the trans oil for winter?

Re: Winter is here - VERY hard to get reverse
a little water/moisture in the cables will freeze and cause this, not saying that's your problem but it sounds like it. could also be an adjustment problem or a combination of both. I doubt it's the fluid in the rear but that's should be 30w oil not gear lube if you feel like changing it.

I have the same problem gp. My cart is a 97 ezgo and think it needs fresh oil in the rear. cables work fine. I found if I let it run in neutral a couple minutes and warm up it works fine.

mine does it too. I think the belt shrinks a little when cold. mine starts shifting fine after i run it. i guess the belt warms up.

No this isn't a belt thing. It's not going into gear. Actually the cable lever feels odd to me too. I'm wondering about the moisture thing now.

Does it grind going into gear, the clutches may be gunked up and dragging when cold
