Another thing you may want to try instead of the heat shrink tubing over the crimp connector is Liquid Electrical Tape. I use the brush on for these type of connectors. It's quick and easy and doesn't require the heat gun. Also a little Dielectric Grease on the connector itself to prevent moisture and corrosion.
Nothing is more irritating than chasing down wiring mysteries. A few of these products will make you work last for a very long time. |

Hawk, I just used that liquid tape for the first time. Pretty neat stuff! And yes, good idea on using the dielectric!
The shrink just stiffens the joint. |
