remove fuel line from carb, crank engine & see what fuel flow is.
when running & then stop running , spray carb cleaner in carb. If it runs then dirty carb. probably pilot jet.

Check the F/R cable adjustment if the reverse is tighter than forward and vice-versa.

it might sound simple, but have you checked to make sure you don't have a fuel line getting pinched somewhere? The fact that sitting on the cart affects starting makes me think either the fuel line is getting pinched when the cart settles due to weight on it, or possibly that you have a frayed or misplaced wire that is going to ground when weight is on the cart ... For THAT matter, double check, pull and clean up ALL your grounds, jsut for good measure (battery to engine, battery to frame, etc) - you may have a loose or corroded one that is moving and losing contact when the cart moves from weight on it.

And as above, make sure to check the F/R assembly - it's right under the seat so it could easily be moving and losing contact with weight - I would try to spray some contact cleaner in there and work it back and forth to see if that cleans up what ails you.
