Almost forgot - I'm adding to the list. I need to add a stereo and some speakers and paint the front risers for the top, or make some different roll bars and a bimini.

Wow Doug, you got that done in a hurry!!! Looks good! Now you need some type of pinstriping or something on the sides! Oh, I got it, flames! I do love the wheels. Those are sweet!

Thanks! I had the last two days off and with the kids back at school, I had some uninterrupted garage time. I lucked out with the condition of this cart. It was pretty dirty under the body, but once I got it all cleaned up I noticed not even a little rust. The folks I bought it from took good care of it. We actually are going to go with some Rat-Rod style flames on a black body. I'll strip it back down this winter and start sanding and filling. I'm pretty happy with how it looks right now, so it might not even happen this winter. I might just go with the ole IAFF sticker and call it good for now.

Thanks Mike!

My steering wheel is 90 degrees off center now - what did I do and how can I fix that?

Great job Doug

As far as the steering wheel being off center, do the front wheels turn the same left to right from the new position? If they do you can pull the steering wheel, center the front wheels and reinstall the steering wheel in the correct position. In other words the steering wheel is not keyed and can be turned on the shaft.

If they turn the same amount left to right when the steering wheel is in the original position I would check the exention block bolts to see if anything is off.

I also went with a Jakes lift and it has been working out perfectly.

Thanks Rando - I'll check it when I get home. It was dead center before I installed the lift.

I adjusted the tie rods on both sides, except to get the steering wheel straight, one tie rod needs to be about an 1/2" longer on each thread. So I need a longer tie rod?

Doug, with out pictures, its hard to tell what's wrong there. Those 1/4" flat S shaped tie rod ends, are what I would question.would lay them on top of each other to see if one is bent. Then reassemble them but leave them loose.then center the pitman arm in the center (lock to lock of the steering wheel). When the steering wheel is in the center of its travel, the pitman arm should hang straight down (vertical). I know all I've told you is gibberish.but assemble it in loose manner and observe, what is taking place as you go.
