Re: 92 gxi 804
The cart on the right in this pic is a 93 GXT 800 if that helps (this one has the same cowl I believe you're talking about only without the light holes) - if this is the cart in question, the frame IS different than a standard cart frame and you'll have to find a workhorse-style one or reinforce your own

Re: 92 gxi 804
Ah I see the lift kits on both of your carts. They look good. I'm just worried about the strain on the steering ball joints. The install PDF that he sent me made the linkage look like it had a high angle. The cart on the left looks like it has bigger tires on the front than the back. Optical illusion?

Re: 92 gxi 804
They both have leaf in the front and coil in the rear, Goose (standard setup until 1993 on EXGO gas carts) - the rear engine cradle is basically the same on both (although there are slight differences as the one on the right is a 4 stroke, and the left is a 2) - the entire rear frame assembly pivots in front of the motor, and the engine and rear end are both mounted to the rear section with a pair of coil springs and shocks to provide the suspension.
And Night, the steering components are under no more stress lifted than they were before - the front axle bears all the weight and stresses, and the lift kit just moves it a little farther away from the leaf springs. The angles of the steering components DO change, but the lift doesn't really subject them to any new stresses, just the same ones from a slightly different angle (which isn't relevant) - I had to spin out my tie rod ends a bit as after the lift the cart had about an extra 8 degrees of steering to the right (which caused a slight tire clearance issue under hard cornering) but that's it. And yeah, it somehow always looks like the rears are smaller on my 88 - but they're not, in fact in a photo from the rear they look taller, it's a weird one :) - they're all Chen Shin Lumberjack 4-ply's, 22X11-8 |

Re: 92 gxi 804
Oh - for the record, both carts have the atv_expert lift kits, the GXT has a 4" and the Marathon has a 5" - the tires on the GXT are a slightly less-agressive 2-ply set of 22X11-8's from BuggiesUnl, they have quite a bit more flex than the Chen Shins on the Marathon but my buddy (who owns the cart) runs them at a lower pressure which contributes to that a bit

Re: 92 gxi 804
my buddy owns the 800 (obviously, look how clean that "garage queen" is, hahahaha) - he loaned me his tires to test fit on my cart (the green weenie) when I first did my lift ...
Personally, we try to keep the carts apart as much as possible, I dont want mine to get "uppity" and I'm pretty sure he's afraid his might catch something from mine if it gets too close, LOL |
