Jim is correct, mine had a plastic plug screwed in there, I guess to protect the threads from corrosion. Have a look with a flashlight and maybe a mirror. I had a job to get the thing out eventually using a large screwdriver as a pry bar to unwind it.

It is also possible that you have an after market clutch with a different center but don't despair I have the dimensions of that somewhere.

no washer tried 5/8 fine thread bolt and it is to large aslo. could it be metric type threads. i am replacing both clutches. the new drive clutch is a comet and the driven clutch is the same brand i guess. i have the drive clutch ready to come off the shaft of the motor but can not figure out how to get it off with the tools i have. if the puller was the right size it would come off easily.

talk with a tech from buggies unlimited and said i could use a 1/2 rod 3 inches long and a 9/16 fine thread bolt 2 inches long. going to try it. hope it works. also any suggestion on removing the driven clutch on the 88 ez go 2 cycle. i have the bolt out. do i need to remove anything else beside the spark plug. with a new engine over haul and new belts and two new clutches i hope the buggy will run like new.

be sure you pay close attention as to how you reinstall the piston. the hole goes away from the exhaust port. other wise it isn't going to run . look at the rebuild section in the tech manual , it explains this.

thanks for all you help.
changed both drive and driven clutches and the old 88 is running like a new cart. it was not very hard just was not sure how to go about it. once everything started coming off it was easy. both clutches went on real smooth.

Hot rod ,,Look in the manual I posted to you weeks back. I think in the spec section or the repair section it should give the size bolts required. Donald

I'm trying to pull off the cooling fan off the crankshaft of a 1983 244cc, the manual calls for the use of their own special ez-go puller however I'm sure they are no longer available, anyone has a salutation to pulling the cooling fan off?
