Did a compression test today and I came up with 80 pounds. That's pretty anemic. They're supposed to be at 125 right?

Anyway I guess it's time to tear it out and do the top end.I'll run my starter generator to the motor guy while it's out of commission and see if he can get it to charge and work in reverse.Hell, this cart is gonna be A1 mechanically when I'm done here.

I have the top end off. There's plenty of slop on that piston.Does anybody know the dimensions of a new piston and cylinder?I put the piston on a micrometer and according to the example of a worn out piston, this thing probably shouldn't even be running. The machine marks are gone on the piston and there is light scoring in the cylinder. The shop has a 50 over piston in stock with rings, bearing, wristpin, and clips for $52.I'm thinking I could have the cylinder bored for about $30.I may just go for it.

Any opinions?

Very close piston to wall clearance .002-.003 if I remember right. Look in the tech section or I'm sure DAVE BOX would know K.

GOOD VIDEOO Bet it's going to help a bunch of guys thats thinking of doing theirs. Please make a video of the reassembly if possible so others will know the proper direction to place the port in the piston. It will remove a lot of problems others has had in the past. K THANKS

Ok guys, I ordered the 50 over piston today and soon it will be in my eager little hands. After I have the jug bored out I was figuring I'd shuck the drive belt and fire up the cart jamming the throttle open so it's a good deal over idle but nowhere near redline and let it run that way for a nice easy break in.Only thing is I don't know how long to let it go like that. There's no odometer so how many hours do you think it should be until it's safely worn in?

Just my opinion but if the clearances are correct and assy is correct I would mix my first tank at 40:1 3oz per gallon and get on that sucker and ride. Don't mean to be funny but from past experience you'll want the load on the engine and the on throttle and off throttle to properly as we say break it in. After the first tank mix then go to the 128:1 mix and your ready to go. A few heat cycles and it should be good.

Here is the reassembly.I still have something going on.My generator isn't charging and I replaced a pinched fuel line.Tomorrow when the battery is back up I'll try for another run.I might be giving the muffler the BBQ treatment as well.
