Default Yet ANOTHER converter wiring question

I have a 91 marathon. The positive battery pack lead to the key switch is 36v when in the off position and 0v when in the on position. Is this normal? Backwards from what I am used to. This is the same result when checked with pos switch lug to battery pack neg post or to the blue wire on the other lug on the key switch. I am wiring a converter and to me, maybe I am stupid, but it seems that the key switch in the off position should break the circuit. Just seems strange to me. If this is correct, then why can't I wire the yellow control wire to the red 36v input wire from the battery pack (+). The diagram below may explain it better...

On the schematic you posted, with your DVM's negative test lead attached to the battery packs main negative terminal, you should measure 36V 100% of the time on the red wire going to the keyswitch and on the blue wire from the keyswitch to MS-2 on F/R assembly, you should get 36V with key ON and -0- with key OFF.

If not, something is wrong with the keyswitch or cart wiring.

Once that is settled: If the yellow wire on your converter is the remote On/Off control wire, it should be connected to the same keyswitch terminal as the blue wire.

There is one wire from the battery main + to the key switch and one wire out. It is a make or break connection switch. Disconnect the out put side and retest the switch. You should have power in & no power out with the key in off . Then power at both terminals when on.

Thanks. All is well now. All of the wiring diagrams show to hook up to 36v which leads you to believe constant 36v. That is why it did not make sense and I was unsure of whether to hook it to the blue wire. I didn't want to fry the converter. I think the instructions need to be changed to connect to the 36v OUTPUT on the switch.
