Re: fuel pump not
do you have the lines on the right way on the pump?
Does it start with the choke on? if so it could be the crank seals.. |

Re: fuel pump not
check around the side of the engine ,primary clutch side and see if the stater pulley is caked with carbon .dirt and oily residue ,if so the crank seal are gone, also try blowing the outlet coming from the engine to the pump ,take the line off the engine and use air compressor air and give it a few quick shots of air in to the block, just to see if there may be some gunk inside the block it self , other then that do you have another vacuum pump to try on it to see if the new pump just is not any good

Re: fuel pump not
tk:
I had a similar problem, and after wasting a considerable amount of time and money on piecemeal fixes that half-worked, I went electric. The cart has never ran so good, all of the backfiring, overheating (from running lean) and fuel delivery issues are a thing of the past. Even if you have a bad crankcase gasket somewhere, there is no sense to overhaul the engine if it isnt leaking oil. I used a low pressure electric pump by Facet, it works like a charm. Just wire it to the output of the solenoid that kicks on the engine when you press the gas pedal, and fuel is delivered. Dont go to high pressure, stay below 5 psi. I post the link below, and please know that I have no financial interest in Facet, or Aircraft Spruce. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...-electric.html cmoses |

Re: fuel pump not
Cmoses , it does sound like a great idea, on the other hand you are talking about a 4 stroke vs a 2 stroke ,if the bottom end seals are gone you must replace or your engine is a ticking time bomb, 4 stroke other then loosing oil will work fine , not good for 2 stoke , as for the pump it is a great idea for 2 or 4 stroke

Copperhead1971:
Good point, my cart is a 4 stroke so it does not depend on crankcase volume displacement cycles to provide the needed induction of air/fuel and exhaust. |

Re: fuel pump not
If you have a blown seal or another issue, repair the problem. Dont half azzed it and expect a long term running engine.
As I always told my kids, If your not going to fix it right then dont fix it at all and get rid of it. |
