Default G2 to G9 differential

After installing the diesel into my G1 I no longer have a reverse. I've been told that that I can install a G2 differential and get the reverse that I need. After doing some research it would seem the G2 through G9 carts are very similar. Are the differentials the same or do I need to stick with the G2 ?
Thanks for your help!

G2/G9/G8 and early G14's with a Yamaha style transaxle will work.

Finding one will be a challenge. You're probably better off looking for a whole scrap cart and pulling the rear end out of it. Keep in mind that the secondary on the G2 axle does not sit in the same place as on the G1. Proper clutch alignment with the new rear end means your motor will need to be moved over a few inches.

Do you know which way the motor would have to be moved? If I knew I could start planning the install.
Thanks for the information. Really appreciate those of you who are willing to help!

Also consider...You also will need to leave some room between the transaxle and engine for the forward/reverse shifter shaft and cable lever.

Fortunately I mounted the engine as near the pivot on the swing arm as possible. This was in hopes of limiting the amount of engine movement. That required quite a bit longer belt so hopefully there will be plenty of room.

The newer style Dana rear ends g16-22 mount the same as g2/9 and have same clutch alignment when switch between there swing arms.

The clutch will have to go about 2 inches toward the passenger side of the cart. I just got done tinkering around with my buggie and got a good look at it.

If you had to choose a direction that was the one I wanted to here. The other way would have been very difficult to accomplish. This way should be pretty straight forward. Will have to fabricate another stub shaft adapter to bring the primary clutch closer to the flywheel.
Thanks for the info!
