Default Brakes locking up.

What would cause the brakes to lock up while going in reverse? Every time I drive in reverse the brakes will lock up and I will have to use a fourwheeler to pull it forward to release them.

Either the lever is sticking, a spring is broken/disconnected, or a brake lining is separated from the shoe. Pull the hub and it should be obvious once you're in there.

If both sides are doing it, it may just need new shoes.

Are the brakes on this cart like a car? As you reverse it tightens the brakes?

If you mean automatic adjusters, no. I think they tried it on some G1s very early.

Well I finally got around to taking the wheels and hubs off and as soon as I pulled the hubs apart one of the brake linings fell out. Guess I will order a new pair!

Nothing beats an old fashioned in person inspection!

Make sure you get genuine Yamaha shoes. Aftermarket shoes are very hard compound, and won't stop!!
