23 hp vanguard oil smell
Hello, I was changing my forward and reverse cables today.In order to get them off I had to remove oil filter,thankfully I did because guy lied and said he just changed before I took ownershipof it..filter was new in 2008..My problem is that after removing filter the oil on my hands smelled like gas.I drained the oil .does this mean my float is stock or air filter clogged or something worse...the carb is brand new as is the filter...please help

I went as far as to try and ignite the oil,to see amount of gas in it...good news it didn't ignite...I guess
