Front Leaf Springs
So I read a post somewhere here that said I could swap out my '92 front leaf springs for a set that is for an older Ezgo which are longer. I found a set for a '79-'88 which is 19" long. I believe this is two inches longer than my stock ones.
I have an issue with my front 22" wheels rubbing time to time and by setting the front axle out 2" will make all the difference. Question is has anyone done this with any success and will there be an issue with the steering geometry? I'm hoping it's simply a bolt on process Thanks for any advice! |

Re: Front Leaf Springs
It would depend on what you're rubbing against. If it the brake pedal or the body then it will probably help. If its rubbing on the springs then you probably won't see a difference.
Wheel spacers or rim offset is the common fix for tires that rub. |

Re: Front Leaf Springs
Also depends on whether you can adjust the tie rods out another 2".
I have used 1" blocks btwn the rear of the front springs and body to correct a rubbing problem with the brake peddle. |

Re: Front Leaf Springs
It's rubbing on the brake pedal and the body both. Usually I can hit a bump head on it's okay but if I hit it at an angle it'll rub.
Maybe I'll look into fabricating something up that'll fit between the body and springs. Thanks for your input! |

that runs through the spring, you have to pull the floor mat and use longer bolts. |

Re: Front Leaf Springs
I went ahead and order two new leaf springs that are 19" or two inches longer than the stock. If (IF) I have things figured right this will extend my wheelbase setting the front axle out further and that will give me the clearance that I need.
If that doesn't give me the clearance then I'll whip up something as you suggested and give that a go. Thanks again for your input. |
