Gas Work horse not Charging Battery
I have a 1995 Ez Go Workhorse that doesn't seem to be charging the battery.
I can charge the battery and test it and all is fine. After I run it for a while the battery will not start or is slow to start the cart. Is there a voltage regulator or a way to test the charging circuit? Thanks, Eric |

Yes - It sounds like your voltage regulator is out...

Re: Gas Work horse not Charging Battery
Thanks.....I figured it was the regulator but I wasnt sure of the proper test.
I have read that you should ground the Green wire from the starter and I have read that you should ground the terminal that the green wire connects to.....I dont want to smoke wires and melt stuff!!!!! Does anyone know which is the right test? Thanks, Eric |

Re: Gas Work horse not Charging Battery
All the manuals are hidden on the home page. sub forum- ezgo gas tech.
This is easier. This should be the techs manual with the test procedures.http://products.jacobsen.com/img/manuals/605586.pdf The engine is a different manual (future reference)http://products.jacobsen.com/img/manuals/27615-g01.pdf |

Re: Gas Work horse not Charging Battery
Well I purchased a new regulator and before it had a chance to come in I figured out my problem.
I just started checking wireing connections and then rechecked the voltage with a digital volt meter. It was charging fine. I guess I should have started with the basics and checked all wires and connections. Hope it helps someone else....... |

Re: Gas Work horse not Charging Battery
How old is your battery? Could have a bad cell. You could take it and get it load tested at an auto parts store.

Re: Gas Work horse not Charging Battery
I have a load tester and checked the battery first. I even redid the battery connections. What I failed to check was the wiring. It has male/female connections that had corrosion on them and not making a good connection.
As soon is I cleaned them up the charging system worked fine. Thanks, |

Re: Gas Work horse not Charging Battery
yep corrosion will sneak it the connections. I sometimes will apply liquid electrical tape to help prevent it.
