Default QUESTION on G8 driven clutch

new to the Yamaha.. I picked up a g8 recently with a ton of issues...I finally got the engine to run and I noticed on the driven clutch between the sheaves there was a spacer/washer floating between them, is there suppose to be a spacer there or maybe it might of broke loose from one of the sheaves.

Default Re: QUESTION on G8 driven clutch

Most yamaha secondaries have a nylon washer between the secondary sheaves. Its mostly so they don't touch when closed or make noise touching. I took mine out but it didn't really matter. Then again it wont touch until your belt gets worn a lot and mine never does (or if you remove the belt). Later I put a cut sheave on and that did change things it has a lower gear on take off.

Sheaves are all metal except the rubber seal on the bronze bushing in the center of the movable sheave and the plastic pads on the spring perch that run against the ramps.
