Question 91 Club car carry all 2 no spark

Have 91 club car carry all 2. Magneto is good (shows power on multimeter). Installed New coil and new rpm limiter. Still no spark, or intermittent at best. Has KF82 gas engine. Out of ideas. Suggestions?

Here's the spark testing procedure for 1986-1991 carts as well as your wiring diagram. Does it at least try to turn over and start every time or does pushing the pedal just do nothing sometimes?

Thanks for the reply and diagram. Turns over just fine. Simply no spark at the plug connection.

There is power coming from the magneto (the diagram shows it as pulsing coil) when it turns over. I tested this with a multimeter attached to the 3 prong plug (red/white/brown wires) coming from the pulsing coil. I replaced the CDI unit with a new one. But no power beyond that unit/at the plug connection. Or it’s intermittent at best. Is that possible? There was no spark with the old CDI as well which is why I thought it was the culprit. If the rpm micro switch was bad, would it still turn over? Or could that be the problem?

Turn the key on and put a screwdriver across the two big posts of the solenoid and see if it starts every time (in maintenance mode, running in neutral).

*Edit never mind that probably won’t be your issue. I was replying in a hurry without reading fully.

Did you test the exciting coil, as detailed in the manual above?

Looks like the pulsing coil. Has low ohms. The exciting coil checks out ok. Thanks for the troubleshooting list.

Question Re: 91 Club car carry all 2 no spark

Now I have no idea why there is no spark. I replaced the CDI, rpm limiter, pulsing and exciting coil. The exciting coil circuit tests ok according to the trouble shooting instructions. But the pulsing coil goes to infinity when tested. The exciting/pulsing coil is brand new. No idea where to go from here?

Suggestions? Thanks for any help!

The exciting coil and pulsing coil are two different units. The pulsing coil is the smaller, square one and the exciting coil is the larger one with the "wedges" at both ends (see diagram above in my earlier post). The way you worded your post makes it sound like you think they're all one unit. If you're testing the pulsing coil in the right place and the resistance is infinite, then without being there in-person I can only guess that you have a defective new coil.

Thanks for the reply. The exciting/pulsing coil I purchased is “one unit” - two separate parts, but one wiring harness (3 prong red, white, and brown). I get what you’re saying that they are two separate parts. I can’t find anywhere that sells the pulsing coil by itself. To test the pulsing coil I check the white to ground (i.e, frame). Both the old and new pulsing coils go to infinity.

Just to circle back since you didn't share details, are you certain that no spark is your problem? Have you changed the spark plug? Can you pull the spark plug and hold it against the engine block while cycling the motor (with a pair of insulated pliers of course) to actually see if the plug is firing or not?
