Meter, usually hook one side to coil one side to ground, set number of cylinders or if analog may have a row for RPM with X cylinders on it and how to calc for other num cylinders.

TACHS most are induction style tachs, most have instruction with them, and usually connect to the spark plug cable/ wire. wrap around spark plug per number of wraps usually 3-5. or may have a clip that clips on wire, just make sure it is facing correct direction, usually has an arrow and plug on it. pretty simple animals.

Make sure your tach is for 1 cylinder engine to work correctly !! most are for 4, 6, 8 cylinders.

I just picked up the Equus, here is my posting about it: What Tachometer & Speedometer are you Using on your Club Car

Tiny Tach is what I use, you just wrap the input wire around the spark plug wire.
