Rear wheel stud removal
Hi all. I am putting wheel spacers on the rear of my buggy and have longer studs ready to go in but I am struggling to get enough space to remove the old studs let alone put the new ones in.
I have removed the rear brake plate and still don’t have enough space. Does anybody have any idea please of how I can get more space to fit studs? Thanks in advance Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Rear wheel stud removal
you may have to pull the axle shafts from the housing... what kind of spacers did you get?

Re: Rear wheel stud removal
There is a snap ring which retains the axle that's visible through the inspection hole. The axle and stud mounting plate are one.

Re: Rear wheel stud removal
You need a quality pair of 90º snap ring pliers and a pan to catch any rear end oil. Bearings are pressed in and sealed so no worries there. The axle may need a bit of persuasion to come out

Is this along the right lines. I know it is a Jeep but it looks similar. Just need to find how to release the snap ring https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNLePvUoM3A

Re: Rear wheel stud removal
You got it
If you jack the axle you are working on up higher than the other side - all the oil won't pour out all over the dang place when you pull the axle... don't ask me how I know this |

Re: Rear wheel stud removal
Thanks for all the advice. The spring clip was a bit of a bugger but it came out, pulled the axle out and cha he’s the studs. I was worried about bending the spring clip but managed to straighten it no worries. The whole thing just took a bit of patience. Thanks for all the advice
