Used batteries

I'm looking to purchase some used (but good) batteries. Any recommendations for an alternative to what I have now which are Trojans. I can't afford to buy new ones. What would be a good alternative?

I was unable to retreive my golf cart from the beach and it hasn't been used in over 6mos. After inspecting the 8 volt trojan batteries I have in place as well as putting in over 2gallons of distilled water, I could not get a charge. The charger would not even start. I even tried a neighbors charger, but still the charger would not start. So, I'm thinking they're dead. My brother in law is going to loan me his hydrometer to check out the cells. So if they're dead completely I'll need to replace them.

Try charging each individual battery with a 12v charger for 15 minutes each and see if you can get them up to 8v or so, if you do that your charger should start. The batteries may still be toast but you can always try.
I bought new 8v GC batteries at Sam's club for $78 each.

What he said is true, if this is a 48 Volt cart with OBC , the battery pack must be up to at least 36 Volts before the charger will come on.
Once U get it up and the charger comes on , it will take several charges to get
everything back to normal .
