No fuel pressure ? Or compression issue?
i have a 1985 ez go it is very hard to start, cranks along time before finally starting... check compression it is at 120psi ( i dont know what is should be )
but also noticed the fuel pump will not fill the filter either when cranking.. i pressureized tank and cart got more fuel and starts a bit easier... has taken pump apart and no cracked diaphram found ?? any one have any suggestion? thanks for the help this is my first cart and first visit on the forum .. people seem very helpful on here.. |

Re: No fuel pressure ? Or compression issue?
theres a gasket that goes bad on the engine its not the head gasket but another one that when it goes bad you lose fuel pressure cripes i can,t think of the name for it.........................................8 )

Re: No fuel pressure ? Or compression issue?
Once you get it started how does it run? The reason I ask is that the fuel pump is driven by oscillating pressure from the crankcase. Low fuel output is one symptom of worn crankshaft seals. Another symptom is that the fuel will not be adequately transfered form the inlet manifold through the crankcase to the cylinder so the cart will have low output and torque. If you have these symptoms then it may be time for a rebuild.

Shadowmans point is good. It's the gasket at the base of the cylinder. It is clamped down by four bolts so try to get a wrench on them and see if you can tighten them down.

Re: No fuel pressure ? Or compression issue?
thanks guys, i will check all those gaskets, and see what i have, i know there is good pulse from the engine to the fuel pump,
and once engine is running it runs good. and pretty fast (governor is off of it) but will easily die when decellerates then again very hard to restart |

Took a few days to get back on the cart but now starting car has gotten more difficult, although no rpm change was noticed spraying at crankshaft .. I belive your right time for a rebuild
at least at that poin i know its all new thanks dave and shadowman ill let you know how thing turn out after rebuilding |

Re: No fuel pressure ? Or compression issue?
I had the same issue the other week with my 2001 txt. It drove fine then all of a sudden all power was gone and all it would do was idle for me. Not enough torque to even engage the drive belt. I noticed that it seemed like I wasn't getting any fuel. Wasn't seeing any draw into the fuel filter from the tank. After pushing it all the way back to storage from the middle of the course with my 89 G2 I did some investigating
I pulled the fuel pump off and apart. All seemed well. Put it back together and installed. No change. Next i bought new 1/4 rubber hose to start replacing the lines in case there was any cracks or wear. Not that it was leaking any fuel so start with the vacuum line. It was hard to get the new line on where it was a breeze to take the old one off. Hit the gas pedal and with a little choke it roared to life so I let it run awhile and took it for a few spins and all seems well. Anyways, just something to check before digging too deep. I always start with the cheapest and easiest things first before going too deep. Just food for thought. |

Re: No fuel pressure ? Or compression issue?
That is a fair point Squijo, for a 2001, but the 85 does not have a vacuum line as the pump is bolted directly to the crankcase.
