Problem with Serial #
Hello all, I'm a new member to the forum. I am a member on multiple other forums, so am familiar with the search button and forum etiquette. I recently acquired what I believe to be an early 80's gas EZGO. I found the serial # lookup and typed in what I could read on my tag, but it said it wasn't valid. The tag was painted over, and I tried sandpaper and a wire brush to reveal missing numbers, but didn't wanna overdo it. Thought someone could possibly compare what I have and see if I'm missing digits, because it looks like I may have space for a number or two in front of what I can see. Here's what I have:
80010 197255 The space between is where the two tags are separated. Didn't know if this year of EZGO has the Manufacturer # and Serial # like I've seen on some. And since I know everyone likes pics, here's the new toy, along with my two others: a '96 Kawasaki ZX-6E and a '71 Honda CB350. The other bike isn't mine, it's a Yamaha RD200 (2 stroke). |

Re: Problem with Serial #
I remember reading a pretty good post about the difference in model years, but of course I can't find it now. I thought I remember reading that the external starter (like I have) didn't start until '80 or '81.

Re: Problem with Serial #
:) I hope so! I'm in the process of taking the drive clutch off, already cleaned the carb and bought a battery, plus a new plug, diff fluid change, and new wheels/tires.

Re: Problem with Serial #
Well I made another discovery while looking for parts today. I have keyed axles in the rear, so it looks like the newest my cart can be is an '81. Does anyone know if they make replacement axles for this model that are splined? The keyed design seems ridiculous.
