Default same crankshaft on 2PG as 3PG

Does anybody know if it is the same crankshaft on the 2pg engine as on the 3 pg engine?

i am having trouble finding the answer, i know the seals are the same but i am not sure about the shafts themselves.

Also, has anybody ever heard of the pulsar not working when it gets hot?

thanks

kevin

The part numbers are different so im going to say that they are different some how. The 2pg crankshaft is 1980-1988 part #21964-G1, and the 3pg crankshaft is 1989-1993 part #24513-G1.

If you suspect that your pulsar is failing the easiest test would be to splice a multimeter into the red and blue wires to the ignitor. With the engine at rest you should see 75 - 140 ohms. With the engine running and the meter set to the lowest volts ac setting you should see ~ 0.5 Vac. So a short drive to get the pulsar hot should point to the culprit.

That said if your ignition is failing with the engine hot there is another explanation. If the regulator fails the generator can output 18 volts. This is enough to overheat the ignitor which will then cut out until it cools down. A nice easy test is to jack up the back, start the engine and measure across the battery.

I was having a issue like this and I just found out the wires on my pulsar were loose- I just needed to solder them on.

Anything between 14 and 16 volts would be acceptable.
