Default lift and seat clearance 87 2pg

So will a 4" or 5" lift on a gas 87 get the engine further away from the seat bottom? My engine just touches the seat bottom. I'd like to have more clearance.

Not really. The lift kit lowers the rear axle but the engine cradle is hinged at the front so it will only lower the engine by a small amount. I would guess that at some stage someone has pulled the engine and it is now not sitting correctly in its cradle.
