Re: 83 marathon
From your pics the part you have in your hand is the neutral limit switch labeled in the drawing or as we call it a (mirco switch) it attaches to the solenoid which your pointing at in the pic. Sorry to say but unless you can remove the corroded screw the switch will have to be replaced. The regulator most likely is under a cover which sits low in the engine bay attached to the panel where the f/r switch is mounted. By the way the cover also protects the ignitor. You'll see a group of wires in this area.

Re: 83 marathon
got a new battery, rebuilt the starter, and got it to crank a few times, how does one check to see if the fuel pump is working? also i have a yellow wire coming from the st. spot on the key switch, and runs to the A spot on the solenoid. it get really hot and has started to melt.

Re: 83 marathon
I can't tell without seeing all the wires on the solenoid but it appears that the switch is trying to carry the load to the starter instead of the solenoid. I know the center post on that switch is the (s) start terminal, if you are cranking it over with that switch instead of the pedal switch then that is why you are having the problem you are having in your other thread...
