Re: electrical problem
That was my original thought that the trouble is between the ign. switch and the solenoid + term. That is what the test i suggested, bypassed all those switches and placed 12v directly on solenoid with key off, the cart should crank and start. Sounds like you have bad switches and or wiring between the ign. sw. and solenoid. The solenoid stays energized all the time the cart is running, if it drops out(Denerzizes) the cart is running off the battery until battery becomes weak and the coil will not fire.

Re: electrical problem
Ill test the ignition key and wiring. Might grab a new limit switch as well.

Re: electrical problem
Ok, so I tested the ignition switch across the terminals with wires unhooked. Key turned off the resistance was infinite. Key turned on still had 7 ohms resistance. Could this be my problem? I checked the limit switch and it seemed to work fine, less than 2 ohms when closed.

Re: electrical problem
yes, thats unusal high resistance 7 ohms with all wires disconnected, definitely could be the problem, should not have any resistance with wires removed and switch on. From your fuse thru all switches should not be greater than 2 ohms to the solenoid terminals.Be sure and check fuse and fuse holder for clean contacts.

Re: electrical problem
Changed the ignition, and its working fine. I got it to jump at the solenoid as well. If it dies on me again, I think it must be the solenoid malfunctioning intermittently. Thanks for the help.

Re: electrical problem
It died again. The good news is it took alot longer until it stopped, Ive also found that if it does die i can move the starter by hand and it will start up again. Also, if I turn the key off everytime i stop, it doesnt ever die. Quite the riddle.

Re: electrical problem
The next time it dies, jumper across the two large terminals on solenoid, with key on and see if it will start . If it starts , the problem is your solenoid. If it doesnt start then, check your brushes in s/g , also check connections on your F-N-R switch .Check the belt on your s/g , that its tight and in good condition.
