Default Steering wheel

Guys,

I want to replace my steering wheel. Looking on ebay they are almost $100 bucks.

Can I just use a "car" steering wheel or does it need to be for the club car?

Thanks,
Dank

. . . to an extent . . . you would still need the applicable "adapter" for either a DS or Precedent that fits the steering wheel to the CC shaft assy, such as these:

Steering Wheel Adapters

. . .

And check to ensure that you have the proper adapter! It must align with the holes on your steering wheel. There are 3 hole, 6 hole, and universal adapters.

Thanks Steve,

Right, so if I find a wheel with lets say 6 holes then I just need to buy the 6 hole adapter.

The car steering wheels are like $40 bucks.

Correct?

Also, you will not have a functioning horn button. If you need a horn, you will need to wire a push button somewhere, perhaps on the steering column.

. . . because the steering shaft on CC is solid with no room to snake a wire for the horn button built into the typical steering wheel . . .

I have a horn on the column already. So that is good.

How will I know if the 6 hole steering wheel and the 6 hole adapter will fit each other. Or are they universal?

Main thing is make sure you get the correct adapter for your cart and if the wheel is a 6 hole get the 6 hole adapter and they should work together

Thanks guys..

Hey instead of starting a new thread. Can you guys also point me in the direction of a new ignition switch.

I would like to install one that has its own key and no other key would fit it. ( I think it is called an uncommon switch )

Is this a easy install?

dankfoot,

Many have changed the stock CC ignition switch to an aftermarket switch, even motorcycle switches. I think that the important thing here is to make sure that it has only 2 wire connections, like the stock switch. Do a search on ignition switch replacement and you should find several threads and pics.
