Trojan T-145 to buy local or www?
Whats up guys! I'm counting on your experience here that has always been a big help in the past. It seems all the local shops have to order these monsters (T-145). I figured if they have to order them - then maybe I could do the same and save a little money by not paying sales tax and possibly even getting a better price.
First, I need to stick with the Trojan T-145. Its rated at 145min @ 75 amps and I need the long run time for getting my buggy beep in the woods and back home again. Has anyone had any success sourcing batteries online cheaper than locally and if so, where? I started calling our site sponsors but after shipping they were more slightly more than local. Best price around these parts is $850'ish for a set of six + tax + my old batteries. This is my first time replacing the batteries and its a big investment so I'm full of indecision. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Shipping costs will kill you. Look around your area. Try Sams, Costco or even your trusted auto mechanic. Don't forget your local golf cart place.
edit: I didn't realize you live in Florida. You live in golf cart batteryville. I'm sure you can shop around for a good price. I have found some good deals in the Orlando/Tampa area, but chose not to drive there for batteries. |

Yep, im finding shipping is outrageous. Didn't consider Tampa/Orlando. Obviously living in Golf Cart 'vile has both it's ups and downs. The downside is knowing WHO to call, because there are so many business you literally cant call them all. Any of you guys got a favorite local shop in the Tampa/Orlando (or anything in between) known for its good prices?

Re: Trojan T-145 to buy local or www?
Find a populated area with several shops and check around at a few. Anywhere there is competition should keep the prices reasonable. I knew I would need batteries soon towards the end of last summer and I was in a place where there are several cart dealers around and they quoted me $152 each for a set of 4 T-1275 12v's, including my cores. Problem was I didn't have my cores and the place would be closed before I could go get them and bring them back, and it was my last weekend down there. So last fall I started looking locally (not a big carting area). I couldn't find anybody that deals with Trojan and nobody stocks anything like I needed. They all quoted me pretty close to $200 each for 12v batteries I had never heard of before. I found a place about 45 minutes from here that stocks them and quoted me $169. That's where I bought them. I don't want to wait until I get back to the place that's 4 hours from here because I know, at that point, I'd never be able to break them in properly because my son stays gone on the cart constantly. So paying a little more and getting them now will give me time to get them broken in and ready to go by the time we head to the lake for the summer.
I think it's a bit of a drive for you, but my folks live up at The Villages, near Ocala and Leesburg. Of course that's a carting Mecca and dealers and indies everywhere. Not sure if that helps you or not. |

Yes it does. Thanks SaltLife and Steve. I ended up supporting my local shop who were just a few dollars above my lowest quote but they've done me right in the past, and their close to my house. Appreciate it guys.
