Multiple connections on same battery post
When putting the wire from the controller to the battery pack and the wire from the charger on the same post, it seems I can never get these tight because they slip on each other. Does anyone else have the same issue? I was thinking of using one of these to connect the charger to and let the controller wire stay on the threaded post on the battery.
Does anyone do it another way or have any tricks? It's only going to get worse when I add a wire to feed a fuse block for accessories. Thanks! |

Re: Multiple connections on same battery post
If your battery has both posts, this is a great idea.

Re: Multiple connections on same battery post
I've always tried to place the highest amperage connection on the bottom, then each progressively less current one higher.

Re: Multiple connections on same battery post
1. You may be over-tightening the nuts on the stud terminals. The torque spec is 95-105 in/lb, which is only about 8 ft/lb.
At that torque level, most people can prevent the ring terminals from moving with finger pressure until the last 1/4 turn, or so. Therefore, hold them about 1/4 turn counterclockwise of the desired position. 2. If the adapters used are the ones shown, clean the paint off the electrical contact surface at the base of the stud and replace the wing-nuts with hex-nuts. 3. To avoid a potential battery sensing problem for the charger, I recommend the high current cables and the charging cables be attached to the same stud terminal, with the high current cable being in the most intimate contact with the lead surface. Control and accessory wires connected to though the adapters should suffice. |

Thanks for the info.
For controller or charger, which one is the higher amperage? |

Re: Multiple connections on same battery post
Chargers put out about 20A, controllers pass well over 200A.
