Default G2 rear end gasket

I really want to finish with the rebuild this weekend but dont have the rear end gasket, would you guys wait till you got the gasket or just seal it up with blue rtv sealant. I'm not in a rush but really want to clear some space on the bench.

Does it have a cover that can be removed? I know it's got a drain bolt and a fill plug. On the Dana axle in the newer models the cover is removed to drain it. Blue RTV sealant is used--no gasket.

You need the gasket for spacing. Not enough clearance inside with out the gasket!

Thanks for getting back to me guys, I should have stated that I split the rear end to replace the bearings, I decided to wait for the gasket as I am changing out the seals as well.

I went through mine, bout year and a half ago, to remove the gov. parts. Bearings were all good, just new seals and gasket to make sure it didn't leak!!

Ended up polishing the case!!

Mine started to whine during the summer, so I took it apart to find a bunch of small roller bearings ground up and stuck in the gears, I guess I should have removed the governor parts when I bypassed it. Figured new seals would be a good idea as well as bearings as a couple were a little crunchy when spun by hand!
