Default 81 g1

Hello, im going to change the kingpins on my 81 g1 and i found out that it has a 82 frontend, so the sterring knuckles are diff, and the kingpins that are on it has nuts at the bottom, and is there a bushing in there? I dont see one on the parts diagram, so the best way to get them off is hit it from the bottom up? And im changeing shocks and should i use a spring compresser? To get them off and to install? I never did shocks before, thats why so many questions? Im going to leave my front cowl on, i think its going to be some work? Thanks
