spitting gas from carb
i have a 4 stroke yamaha cart i dont know the model but is pretty old, it won't start when you crank it it spits gas out of the carb, i can get it to fire be spraying carb cleaner into the carb

Put the airbox back on. They will barely run, if at all without the factory air box.

Yep, you will need to rejet the carb to make that work. That will also give you the opportunity to super-clean the carb. Search the site for aftermarket air filter info, when you aren't using the stock airbox, rejetting is required. Happened to me too, I put a K&N on mine without rejeting, could not even drive it 100 feet. I went back to stock airbox.

just tried to start it again i squirted a little gas in the carb and put the little cone shaped air filter back on and cranked it over it hit a few licks but it blew my air filter apart it sounds like the exaust is coming out of the carb

Check valve lash and check to make sure fly wheel key isn't sheared sheared key will throw off timing

It needs a bigger jet or it reamed out. I used tortch cleaners for the one on my g9 with busted up air box. It did the same thing you describing.lean backfire.

Try putting a plastic bag over the filter with a small hole in it. (To cut off air flow) And see what it does.
