Slack?
I have about 6 inches of slack in my steering wheel. It pulls to the right if I have the wheel straight. The right wheel is bent in and the rim has a dent. Idk if I hit a rock or what? How do I fix it? I am getting a long travel with new wheels and tires so I think it will help. 1994 Club Car DS, custom 2014 Camaro synergy green paint job |

Re: Slack?
That tire is wore pretty bad on the outside edge , rounded ....if the rears are square , put them up front and see if it takes the pull out....

Re: Slack?
Sounds like your steering rack is worn. Also if the left wheel is straight and the right one is turned inward the toe in toe out is out of adjustment. You could also have worn king pin bushings and tie rod ends. The lift kit should take care of the king pins. Also you will need to align the wheels when you install it. Check your tie rod ends you may want to replace them when you put the lift kit on. Hope this helps a little.

Re: Slack?
With that much visible play:
Have someone turn the wheel and you look at the front end components. It'll be blatantly obvious what is worn when you see a tie rod or steering rod end move and the tires not move. Replace whatever's got play - If you're going with a lift I'd personally do both tie rod ends and the steering rod end - aside from the rack the lift should take care of everything else. And the right front tire there looks as if the camber is out of adjustment, no adjustment for that on a stock front end except for replacing kingpin bushings as was stated, but the lift should fix that. |
