Burned out motor. What route for replacement?
I have an 05 EZGO "sleeper" PDS Sepex cart. 4" lift on 22" street tires. 48v HSKY lithium. 500 amp Alltrax controller. STOCK 36v AMD motor.
I'm comfortably doing 30+ mph and smoke all the carts in town thanks to my lithium kit. I don't need or want much more than I have now as this is a family cart. Through a series of dumb drag racing events and bad "tunes" on my throttle curve I have damaged my motor and need repair/replacement, but I need help on what to look at. My questions/needs: - We MUST Keep regen braking. - Do I need a custom motor or Should I just have my motor rewound by a local shop and dial back my tune? - Would a newer 48v "stock" motor gain me anything vs my 36v? - What other options should I consider? I really don't need or even want the performance gains offered by a $800 motor, but would love to get something that is more durable. |
